In our #FutureFriday series, we regularly introduce start-ups who want to change the future with their ideas. Daniel Schäfer, founder and CEO of United Signals, talks about the digital solutions his company offers to wealth management providers.


1. In a nutshell: What does United Signals do?

United Signals supports banks, asset managers and other financial institutions, particularly in the digitization process of their asset and wealth management. As a specialist in digital asset management, we offer standardised white label solutions as well as individualised applications. Our core services are digital onboarding solutions, interactive customer portals, integration of existing systems and holistic consulting for digitisation projects.

2. What is the concept of United Signals to be future oriented?

The strong automation of processes and the connection of different applications via interfaces lead to offers and knowledge being bundled. Our customers benefit from innovative and customer-centric applications, leading to enormous increases in efficiency and process optimization. The primary reasons are the establishment of the own digital asset management, the development of new customer groups and the scaling of the entire customer base, as well as the increase in efficiency.

3. How exactly does this work?

Most importantly, our B2B customer receives every solution from a single source but is not dependent on a single provider. We ourselves offer a range of software solutions along the entire value chain for digital asset management. From paperless onboarding to customer portals with communication tools and an online mailbox, to digital implementation of investment expertise with fully automated processing. Existing system landscapes, such as portfolio management or CRM solutions, can be connected via interfaces. The result is a complete setup, consisting of the preferred components of the customer, which are seamlessly integrated.

4. United Signals is a company founded in Frankfurt and based here - what do you particularly appreciate about this location?

To us it was clear that we had to move to the financial center Frankfurt - and this decision was the right one. In addition to various companies that are potential customers or cooperation partners, the city and the region offer even more for founders and start-ups. For example, the TechQuartier or events such as Between the Towers and Rooftop Talks are very good opportunities for networking and the exchange of ideas.

Especially in the area of B2B financial technologies, you are in good company in Frankfurt. In addition, we value the central location and excellent travelling connections.

5. How do you think the Frankfurt Rhine-Main start-up region needs to change, to attract even more start-ups and investors?

In recent years, a lot has already been done in the right direction. To become more attractive, I would address the following topics: For start-ups, the main issues are certainly the high cost of living and the fight for talent. A larger number of offices with more flexible lease terms, administrative simplification in hiring foreign talent and the strengthening of study and training opportunities for digital topics in the Rhine-Main region would certainly help. In order to become even more attractive for investors, the number of start-ups and founders would have to increase further. The initiatives that have already been launched will help here, but there is still potential for improvement, especially in the area of early-stage to growth-investments or the range of support- and coaching-programs on offer.

6. How do you plan to attract future talents to United Signals and bring them to Frankfurt?

In general, it is not necessary for us to employ all our employees in one location. However, to fill available positions in Frankfurt, the sector and the field of activity, in which we operate, helps us a lot to attract talent. Employees from banks or other financial institutions, as well as career starters, appreciate the exciting tasks and development opportunities that we can offer them: Working with the latest technologies on a daily basis, contributing and implementing their own ideas and being able to think and act proactively.
