Investor sentiment on COVID-19 implicationsA contribution in times of uncertainty

In the current time of high uncertainty, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a strong ecosystem for growth financing has become more important than ever. In order to evaluate the impact on the entire ecosystem, not only the perspective of founders is crucial, but the assessment of venture capitalists is of equal importance to gain full transparency. For this reason, we have conducted a survey on the investor sentiment regarding the effects of COVID-19.

The key findings in brief:

  • 78% of VCs see their portfolio challenged by COVID-19
  • Number of new VC deals in Q2 2020 expected to drop by 46%
  • Healthtech vertical with strong momentum and outlook
  • VCs spend more time with portfolio support and their Limited Partners
  • Some LPs types are expected to reduce their allocation in venture funds

Around 80 investors took part in the survey between 9 April and 15 April 2020. The objective of the data-driven sentiment report is to present aggregated results in order to illustrate the status quo situation for investors and derive recommendations for founders in uncertain times.
